Get ready to meet a new addition to my crochet family … GIANT TARE PANDAS

What is it about these reclusive and constantly eating animals that makes them so appealing? Is it their big black patches for eyes, or their clumsiness and need for attention? Whatever it is, no one can deny their cuteness and I am downright ga-ga about them.
I found these Tara panda crochet toys via a Japanese diagram pattern (source unknown). Working out the shapes from diagrams alone wasnโt easy, especially as they were in Japanese, but when I figured out the base shapes, they built up quickly and were easy to assemble.
From the pattern and diagrams, I messed up a few of the rounds, so my shape was slightly altered. They came out a bit skinnier, but I love them.
I used a size 8mm hook for these large guys. The green wool was from my Czech grandma which must be over 50-years old. The multi coloured one was made with wool that I unravelled from a jumper found in a charity shop.
This is why I LOVE crochet …. from the initial time that you invest; picking your materials and figuring out the pattern, you then get to watch your little creation grow into a bundle of kawaii gorgeousness.
Omg. I โค๏ธ Tare panda! Any chance you could share the pattern?
Hello, so this is a Japanese pattern which I had to ask a friend to translate (but unfortunately lost the paper) … you can find the original diagrams here https://viyascorner.blogspot.com/2008/09/giant-panda.html
The panda is so fun to make!
Good luck ๐งถ๐ฅฐ
